You’ve been thinking about making short-form videos for a while now.
If you do, you’ll get your ideas in front of entirely new audiences—and give yourself an unfair advantage as AI video creation becomes the norm.
Even better if you do it consistently.
But maybe you’ve run into one simple little problem: you have no idea what to make Shorts about.
I’m going to assume you’re not sitting on a perfectly mapped-out content plan (otherwise, you’d probably be posting already).
Maybe you’re staring at a blank screen, trying to think of original ideas for every video.
Maybe you’re second-guessing whether your topics are even interesting.
Or maybe you feel like you need a completely new approach to video.
You don’t.
There are 3 simple solutions to this.
Solution #1: You Already Have Shorts Ideas
There’s one piece of advice about short-form video that drives me nuts.
It’s the idea that you need to be super creative, brainstorm brand-new ideas every day, and constantly come up with original content to succeed.
That’s nonsense.
I’ve made over 350 short-form videos in the past 15 months, and I can tell you:
The best creators don’t come up with new ideas from scratch. They get really good at repurposing what already works.
Yet, most people make Shorts way harder than they need to be.
Instead of using what’s already in front of them, they:
Sit there staring at a blank screen, trying to force a “brilliant” idea
Overcomplicate scripting, thinking every Short needs to be a mini-masterpiece
End up posting nothing because they’re stuck in indecision
Meanwhile, the smartest creators?
Look at their best-performing content and turn it into Shorts.
Use a simple structure to make their videos engaging—fast.
Focus on volume over perfection—because more reps = better results.
Let me show you how I’ve done this myself.
Here’s a tweet I wrote:
The post did well on X.
Which means it’s a concept people care about and find valuable.
So, I expanded the idea in my newsletter.
The email performed well too.
So, I took the same idea and turned it into a :37 second YouTube Short.
This Short took a fraction of the time to create—because I wasn’t starting from zero.
Same idea, different format.
That’s the beauty of repurposing. Instead of constantly chasing new ideas, you take what already works and reshape it for the platform. With Shorts, that means condensing your writing into a tight, high-retention format.
And AI makes this even easier. I’ll break it all down in detail inside Shorts Studio.
Solution #2: Curate Valuable Resources For Your Niche
If you’re starting from scratch and don’t have a backlog of content to pull from, here’s what to do instead:
Find something valuable, share it, and add your insight.
Too many people overcomplicate content creation. They assume they need to be an expert, have years of experience, or constantly come up with original ideas.
That’s not true.
One of the easiest ways to start creating Shorts (or any content) is by simply curating and commenting on something useful for your niche.
This is exactly what I did with this LinkedIn video post:
I took a book I knew my audience would care about and I explained the reason it’s a best-seller .
That’s it.
And because it was valuable and relevant, it performed well.
Solution #3: Use AI To Generate Unlimited Video Ideas
Some of the best-performing short-form videos follow the same simple format:
A question → A clear, concise answer.
Why?
Because questions instantly create curiosity.
They tap into what people are already thinking about, searching for, and struggling with.
And AI makes it stupidly easy to find the right ones.
Here’s the only prompt you need:
"What are the top 20 questions people have about [your niche]?"
Simple, but powerful.
What are the top 20 questions people have about marketing?
What are the top 20 questions people have about scripting Shorts?
What are the top 20 questions people have about social media ghostwriting?
Within seconds, AI will hand you a list of high-demand video topics—without you having to come up with anything from scratch.
You don’t need a complicated Mega-Prompt. This one question will help you surface the exact topics your audience is already searching for.
Now, all you have to do is pick a question you already know the answer to, turn your camera around, and record your response.
If it’s your first time, just get the rep in.
Don’t overthink the hook. Simply restate the question and dive in:
"How do you grow on LinkedIn?" Here are 3 things that actually work…
"What’s the best way to write a cold email?" Follow these simple steps…
"How do I start making Shorts?" Here’s the easiest way to get started…
Example:
That’s all it takes.
Once you do this a few times, you’ll realize you never needed to "come up with ideas"—you just needed to start answering good questions.
At this point, you have everything you need to for an endless supply of Shorts.
You know how to repurpose your best content, find high-demand topics, and use AI to generate ideas instantly.
