Hey there!
You do not need to become a master in funnels, ads, affiliates, or anything else to make money online.
Literally all you need to do is:
Write about a topic
Give something away for free (related to that topic)
Sell the more advanced version (on that same topic)
Yes, it's that simple.
It works for high-ticket services, digital products, and even your paid newsletter.
The challenge is positioning the value.
There are 4 criteria that make it easy for people to justify reaching for their wallet and paying to read your newsletter.
The criteria are:
A topic you can write about forever
Tangible vs. intangible digital assets
Objective vs. subjective outcomes
Price anchored to a time or $$ upside
Let's look at an example.
Say you're writing a newsletter about at-home yoga routines. Your target audience might be busy professionals who are paying for gym memberships they rarely use. They probably sit at a desk all day and have lower back problems. They want to do yoga but can't find the time to get to a studio.
So, your offer might look something like this:
"The Desk Jockey's Yoga Fix: Weekly 15-minute routines to relieve back pain, boost productivity, and save you $1,080 a year on unused gym memberships. Each issue includes a printable routine card, a video demonstration, and a 'desk hack' to improve your posture at work. Turn your office chair into a yoga prop and your lunch break into a mini-retreat. Go from hunched and hurting to flexible and focused in just 12 weeks."
This offer:
Uses tangible assets (routine cards, videos, desk hacks)
Speaks in objective outcomes (save $1,080, relieve back pain, 12-week transformation)
Price anchors to both cost savings and health benefits
That's how you create an irresistible offer.
An offer is great, but it works even better when you build a Bridge.
The Bridge To Your Newsletter Offer
A Bridge is the mechanism that leads your reader from where they are now to where they want to be. It's the path you create between their current problem and your solution (newsletter). A well-built Bridge doesn't just present an offer—it heightens the appetite for it.
You might call it a lead magnet.
A Bridge could be anything:
An eBook
A Template
A Swipe File
An Ultimate Guide
An Educational Email Course (EEC)
(We’re partial to EECs.)
Let me give you a real-world example:
Example Bridge To Offer: Write With AI
Many of our current paid subscribers to Write With AI first went through our Educational Email Course: https://startwritingwithai.com/.
This EEC is the Bridge to our newsletter. When you sign up we promise to help you become a prolific ChatGPT writer in 5 days with prompt templates for idea generation, viral tweets, X threads, Atomic Essays, and pillar blog posts—for free. The EEC does the heavy lifting of moving our reader from point A (not using AI to write online) to point B (leveraging AI with 5 high-value prompts).
By the time you finish the EEC…
You're ready for our paid newsletter offer—more of what you got in our EEC, plus workshops, courses, and in-depth prompts.
“In every issue, we explain a framework and then we give you an AI prompt.”
What's a prompt?
It's a tangible asset. You can feel the prompt. You can hold the prompt. You can copy-paste the prompt into ChatGPT or Claude.
Which offer sounds more compelling?
A) "Subscribe to my newsletter about AI writing!"
B) "Get a new AI writing prompt every week that will save you hours of work."
Option B wins every time because it's tangible.
It's something the reader can use immediately.
And because we help our readers understand the value we provide in our EEC, before they commit to a monthly subscription, it make the decision to upgrade a “no-brainer.”
Here are 3 ChatGPT prompts to help you get started with this process:
How To Position The Offer
You’ve got your Bridge and you’ve got your paid newsletter.
The next step is to link them together by positioning your offer. The whole goal is to create a smooth, value-packed journey from free content to paid subscription.
Here's how you might structure this:
First, create a free EEC that addresses a specific problem your target audience faces.
Use the EEC to showcase your expertise and the type of value you provide.
Then at the end of the EEC, position your paid newsletter as the next step in their journey.
This approach does two things: It provides immediate value to your audience, building trust and credibility. And it naturally leads them to your paid offering, making the decision to subscribe much easier.
Because now your readers know:
What your newsletter is about
What makes your newsletter different
Why they should subscribe to your newsletter
This is the power of naming and claiming your newsletter category.
Here’s a template:
"Enjoyed this free course on [topic]?
Take your [skill/knowledge] to the next level with [Your Newsletter Name].
Each week, you'll get:
[Tangible Asset 1]
[Tangible Asset 2]
[Tangible Asset 3]
Go from [current state] to [desired state] in just [timeframe].
All for less than [relatable comparison] per month.
Subscribe now and get [bonus] free!"
Here’s what the offer for a newsletter about Fitness At Home might look like using our simple offer template:
To create this for yourself, simply ask ChatGPT to create if for you.
Then copy/paste your offer into the last day of your EEC and edit it for tone/style.
Here’s the prompt:
Please fill in this offer template for my newsletter:
{Insert Your Newsletter Name & Description}
Subscribe now and get [bonus] free!!"
And you’re off to the races.
It’s that easy.

PS…Positioning is the whole secret to Newsletter Creation—and something 99.9% of writers don’t understand.
If people have no idea WHY they should subscribe, you’ll never attract a raving audience of loyal readers, you’ll struggle to monetize your newsletter, and you’ll fall back into the newsletter ocean… never to be heard from again.
Which is why, inside our brand new product Category Newsletter Creator, we’ve created an entire mini-course entirely focused on Newsletter Positioning. Because it’s the foundation for all category defining newsletters
Here’s a quick glimpse into Mini-Course #1: Our Newsletter Positioning Playbook.
This Positioning Playbook contains a proven, reliable framework for naming category-defining newsletters & tons more:
Module 1: Choosing The Right Newsletter Platform
Module 2: Free Newsletters vs Paid Newsletters
Module 3: Competitive Analysis & Category Research
Module 4: Naming & Claiming Your Niche Newsletter
Module 5: Writing Your Newsletter Description & About Section
Module 6: Building Your Newsletter’s Visual Brand (With AI)
But Positioning just the first Pillar to building a successful newsletter.
And after making years of mistakes and trying every strategy we could think of, we’ve found that creating a category-defining newsletter comes down to 5 key pillars:
Category Newsletter Pillar #1: Positioning
Category Newsletter Pillar #2: Publishing
Category Newsletter Pillar #3: Automation
Category Newsletter Pillar #4: Marketing
Category Newsletter Pillar #5: Monetization
Building different Category Newsletters for each of our “verticals” has allowed us to build 6 and 7-figure Digital Writing businesses—generating over $10,000,000 in lifetime revenue.
And because we are on a mission to help 1,000,000 people start writing online, and earn a 6-figure (or 7-figure!) income from their writing, we want to share what we’ve learned with you.
If you’re ready to own your niche, build your list, and monetize forever, then now’s your chance.
Category Newsletter Creator will give you everything you need to:
Own your niche
Turn free readers into paying customers
And build multiple revenue streams with email as the engine
But it will ONLY be available for 7 days.
The product will go live on Monday, November 25th—and we will close enrollment on Monday, December 2nd.
This is a masterclass on building not just a newsletter but a system that continuously delivers value and converts. I love how @WriteWithAI have simplified the bridge from free to paid with clear, actionable positioning.
I’ve seen firsthand how essential it is to offer something tangible and immediate—your prompts and templates hit the mark every time. Thanks for breaking this down so clearly; it's an invaluable roadmap for anyone serious about monetizing their writing.
Incredible value!
