Ahoy, Digital Writers!
Today we are going to walk you through a simple framework for using ChatGPT to write content that deeply engages your niche readers/followers in a highly specialized way.
Inside Ship 30 for 30, we call this “Resonance” content.
Resonance content helps your core audience fall in love with what you create. Because it is designed specifically for THEM—the people who really matter in your niche.
Specificity is the secret.
Let’s dive in!
Resonance hinges on WHO you’re targeting
If you want your readers to fall in love with your writing, you have to first know your reader (better than they know themselves).
So…
WHO is your reader?
WHAT questions do they have?
WHY do they have these questions?
Let’s walk through each question.
WHO is your reader?
You can answer this first question by using the FOR WHO / SO THAT prompt.
For example, if your target reader was someone interested in yoga, then your WHO might be office workers with a sedentary lifestyle, pregnant women, or college athletes who want to improve their range of motion.
Maybe you want to reach all these different types of audiences. (You can!)
But it’s easiest to start with one and then build from there.
WHAT questions is your WHO (audience) asking?
If you are your own target reader (aka: if you’re creating something you wish someone else would have created for you), then chances are you already know what a lot of these questions are—because you’re just listing off all the questions you had at the beginning of your own journey.
But if you are trying to write for a different type of reader, maybe someone you don’t know too much about, then you should gather questions from as many places as you can.
Use ChatGPT to brainstorm
Search your niche on Quora and find popular questions
Scan through the “People also ask” section on Google
Start conversations on Twitter and listen to what people struggle with
Write down the questions are people already asking you
The long and the short of it is: you have to do your research.
In order to write highly valuable, niche content, you need to speak directly to that person's wants, needs, hopes, dreams, and desires. You need to answer their questions. Which means, if you don't know what questions they have, and why they have the questions they do, then you don't know how to Resonate with that person.
So, what 10 questions is your target reader asking themselves?
WHY do they have these questions?
This is where you “sell” the reader on consuming the content in the first place.
IF you do these 3 yoga poses every morning and every night, you’ll never have knee or hip pain again.
IF you practice yoga daily, you’ll recover 3x faster than you normally do.
IF you join a local yoga studio, being part of a community will keep you motivated to work on your flexibility.
Spelling out the outcomes/benefits for the reader is what excites them to keep reading.
Thinking about the above, can you imagine WHO your target, most ideal reader/follower would be? Do you know what questions they are asking? If yes, great. You're ready to go (although we always like doing more research and digging deeper to understand them better!).
If no, here's how you can hire ChatGPT to help.
