If you can write one great course module, you can write a hundred.
You don't need to start from zero every single time. You don't need to "figure out" how to structure every module. And you definitely don't need to spend hours on your first drafts.
You only need one thing:
A single proven well-structured module.
Here’s the thing: Claude can analyze ANY great course module and extract the exact framework that makes it work. Then it can help you create unlimited new modules using that same proven structure.
Think about that.
One great module = Unlimited new modules
Hours of writing = Minutes of generating
Blank screen anxiety = Gone
Course creation = Done
I'm about to show you the exact 5-step system we use to:
The 5-Step Fast Track Course Writing Formula
(Great Module + Claude Projects = Unlimited Modules Fast)
Take a winning module you love
Let Claude study its pattern
Save as a Claude Project template
Input new topic
Get new module
That's it.
This simple formula turns hours of writing into minutes of generating. Once you set this up in Claude Projects, you'll never face a blank screen again. Just plug in your topic, and boom—first draft done.
Let me show you how it works...
Step 1: Find A Proven Course Module To Replicate
How do you do this?
If you've ever taken a course and loved it—it's proven for you. Which means others like you will like it too. Simple as that.
We've written hundreds of course lessons over the last 3 years. So let me show you exactly how this works using one of your favorite lessons from Ship 30 for 30 :
Step 2: Let Claude Be Your Pattern Detective
Claude is designed to read prompts, which means it knows a lot about what makes a good and bad prompt.
Think about it. LLMs spend all day every day reading prompts. They take in an incredible amount of complex information and they have to make sense of it. You can take advantage of this by asking AI to create a good prompt for you. The way you do this is simply by asking it to “Act like a prompt engineer.”
Here's the script that makes it happen:
Act like an AI prompt engineer.
I want your help to create a meticulous AI prompt that outputs well-written course modules exactly like the one I provide.
Please use the pattern and persuasive flow of the example module I give you to inform your AI prompt.
The best result would be to give you a new topic and I could then generate a new module for another topic and have it read in the same style and tone as the example.
All prompts you create should requite the following as input:
Topic: [INSERT SPECIFIC TOPIC]
Primary Audience: [INSERT TARGET AUDIENCE]
Desired Outcome: [INSERT MAIN LEARNING OBJECTIVE]
Module = {Insert Example Course Module}
In this prompt we “hire AI” to help us engineer a prompt to write a course module for any topic we want. So in our instruction we tell AI the most important aspect of the module we want it to study—the persuasive flow.
The persuasive flow is the argument of a text as presented to the reader. It sounds fancier than it is. In plain english it’s how the writer communicated their idea to the reader. It includes everything from formatting (bullets, headers) to voice characteristics (Use of Ahoy! vs Hey,) to the content structure (start with a welcome, then list of objections, etc.).
Let’s see how it works.
Step 3: Take Your New Course Prompt For A Quick Test Drive
Run the script from Step 1 with your sample course module, and Claude will generate a course prompt for you.
But before your turn this into your permanent course writing formula, let's see it in action.
Two quick ways to do this:
Try it in the same chat window (with your example)
Test it fresh in a new chat (without example)
The reason you want to do both is to see how well the prompt performs independent of the example you provided.
Typically you’ll get a better result with the example in tact in the same. chat window that you are testing with. However, you might notice Claude “parrot” the language and ideas in your reference material. It’s not bad you just have to watch out for it.
For example, the first time I ran this I got a pretty good response.
When I ran the prompt without the example, Claude wrote “conversationally,” but it sounded nothing like me. And it over indexed on bullets.
These are all easy things to edit, but if you want your output to get closer to you it’s helpful to keep things in the same chat.
Step 4: Turn Your Prompt Formula Into a Reusable System
Just like ChatGPT has GPTs, Claude has Projects.
A Claude Project is how you can customize Claude to do a specific tasks you need help with—on repeat. You can set up to help with everything from writing headlines, hooks, to writing your course.
Here’s how to do it:
Inside Claude, click on project, then create new project. Give your project a name and description. Since we are modeling a proven course module, we’ve named our project “Course Module Generator.”
Then, click "Set Custom Instructions" and drop in your proven formula prompt.
Now, you’re ready to write modules for any topic.
Pro-tip: Follow this process for different module types.
For example, I have a quick-prompt library I can use to jumpstart any course writing process.
Most modules follow a common pattern, but there are differences between step-by-step module, biggest mistakes, and a “thinking” module.
Ready to give it a try?
Step 5: Write Your Course Lesson (Then Do It Again…And Again)
Now for the fun part.
Remember that promise about turning one great module into hundreds?
Here's what that looks like in action:
See how quickly it comes together?
Now, whenever you want to write a new course module, just open your Claude Course Module Generator project, enter your topic details, and voilà—you’ll have a first draft.
Pretty cool, right?
“But wait—won’t all my modules sound the same?”
Only if you let them.
They'll follow the same proven structure (that's what you want), but the content is all yours—and you can create different templates for different teaching styles.
Tip: You can also follow this same process for any type of content you want.

very much interested in using AI to build a course. also, how to expand the course into a full-scale community where people can discuss the course material and develop and work with it. like on Skool or even here on substack
