Ahoy, Digital Writers!

Today we want to help you speak directly to your reader’s subconscious.

We aren’t talking about using AI to translate brain waves into text here.

However we are talking about using AI to help you get to the root of what matters to your readers—and what really matters is something they can feel in their body, like pain.

In order for readers to care about your idea, they first need to understand what PROBLEM it solves.

Problem = context.

But it’s not enough to just say “X is a problem.” You want to be very clear what type of pain you are speaking to—because in order for the reader to care, they need to know how to FEEL. And if you can pinpoint the type of pain you are speaking to, your language becomes potent.

When you speak directly to the reader’s pain, they feel deeply understood.

Understanding leads to trust—and trust leads to more readers, subscribers, sales, etc.

Let’s dive in!

The 7 most common types of customer pain

Here they are:

  • Social

  • Mental

  • Physical

  • Sexual

  • Spiritual

  • Financial

  • Emotional

Finding all these pains can take hundreds hours.

To do this on your own, you would have to talk directly with readers/customers, read through hundreds of comments and online reviews, or rely on your intuition and experience. Each of these ways to discover pain points is legitimate and massively valuable. Don’t get us wrong here. We aren't discouraging you from doing them.

But…

This is Write With AI—and we want you to avoid the trap of “doing” and leverage ChatGPT as your assistant to unpack customer pain.

Here’s what we’re going to do.
