Writing comments on LinkedIn is like a full-time job.
You know you should be engaging with your network. You know consistency matters. But you're busy running your business—and writing thoughtful comments on dozens and dozens of posts each day isn't realistic.
So today, I want to talk about using AI to help you write comments on LinkedIn.
Let’s dive in.
Why Most People Struggle With LinkedIn Comments
The problem isn't that you don't know what to say.
The problem is:
You're short on time
You feel pressure to sound "smart"
You worry about saying the wrong thing
You get stuck trying to write the "perfect" response
And this leads to analysis paralysis.
So, you end up not commenting at all.
Remove Your LinkedIn Engagement Bottleneck With AI
AI is your first draft machine.
It helps you think through reactions, structure thoughts, and get past the blank page. But you're still the star of the show:
You pick the post.
You add in your story.
You reframe and explain with your insight.
AI just helps you get the words flowing faster.
Note: You aren’t "gaming" the system. You’re using AI as a thinking partner to help you get over the engagement hump.
How To Engage On A LinkedIn Post With A “Comment Bot”
Here's a simple 3-step process I've found works well:
Step 1: Choose Your Tool
You don't need anything fancy.
ChatGPT or Claude work great as a starting point. And if you want something more advanced, give one of these products a trial run. These tools offer useful automation, but most of the generated content tends to be generic, and customization options are limited. It’s a tradeoff to keep in mind.
The key is picking one tool and learning how to use it well.
Step 2: Create Your Process
I recommend starting with this basic framework:
Copy/paste a LinkedIn post.
Then ask AI to comment with this prompt:
Analyze this LinkedIn post:
{Insert post}
Write 3 different concise (2-3 sentences each) first-person conversational comments that adds a unique twist to the post, as if you're an expert on the topic and LinkedIn engagement guru joining the conversation.
Each comment should focus on a different aspect of the post.
Review what AI suggests and edit it to match your voice
And if you don’t want to copy/paste on repeat, you can try this handy Comment Bot GPT.
Step 3: Add Your Personal Touch
Never copy/paste AI responses directly.
You want to avoid comments like this:
Instead, use AI output as a rough draft. Edit. Then add your own examples and insights.
Make it yours.
Here’s A Simple Framework For Better LinkedIn Comments With AI
When reviewing AI suggestions, run them through this filter:
Is this something I would actually say?
Does it add real value to the conversation?
Have I included a specific example or insight?
Would I be proud to have this comment associated with my name?
If the answer is "no" to any of these, keep editing until it feels right.
Bottom line:
The final comment should always sound like you. Your network doesn't need a thoughtless AI response. They need you. You’re what builds engagement on LinkedIn.
That’s it.
