And starting Monday, June 1st I’ll be running a brand new Self-Publishing Bootcamp on writing, publishing, and marketing a non-fiction book:

And Self-Publishing Studio LIVE kicks off Monday, June 1st through Friday, June 12th.
It’s gonna be a ton of fun
Now, here’s the simple 5-step process I use to write & list my books on Amazon:
Step 1: Write your book
I can write a 60,000-word book in 14 days.
And I do this in 3 steps:
Decide on a title
Outline the book
Write each chapter of the book
To help you get started, here’s a thread on each step (and a sneak peek of the Self-Publishing Studio Perfect Book Module & Prompt)

How to write a 5,000-word book chapter in 90 minutes:
Step 2: Hire a designer ($1k - $5k)
Writing complete. Now you need a cover.
Most of the designers who work in big publishing houses also freelance on the side.
I’ve worked with a designer from Penguin Random House for years.
I reached out over email & use her for all my covers:
Step 3: Format the text for eBook & print
This is a lot easier than most people think.
You can either:
Pay someone to do this for you (~$500)
Or use a platform like Reedsy (takes a couple of hours)
Now, onto the most technical part:
Step 4: Upload your files to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)
No special software required here.
You can upload your manuscript as a:
PDF
HTML
DOC
And more.
Amazon has tons of guides on how to do this—you can’t go wrong.
It really is that simple.
Step 5: Preview and hit Publish.
You’ve uploaded your book to KDP for free.
Now make edits, upload your cover, enter your price, etc. and then hit Publish.
Now every time someone orders a physical copy, Amazon will print it on demand (and deliver it for you!)
Now, the final part:
You have to do your own marketing.
Before you even write your book, you should be:
Writing online
Building an audience & your email list
These are your attention engines (and are way more effective than paid ads).
That’s it!
