Ahoy, Digital Writers!
The holidays are here, and you finally have time to relax with the people you love most—your friends and family.
But after binging Netflix, playing one too many rounds of Monopoly, and overeating delicious home-cooked meals, you might be itching for a new form of entertainment.
ChatGPT to the rescue!
Playing games is one of the best ways to bond and create memories. And while you're taking a break from writing, why not show Grandma and Uncle Doug everything you've learned about AI this year and have a little fun while you are at it?!
Here are 5 classic "ChatGPT-enabled" games that are fun for the whole family:
1. Would You Rather
“Would You Rather” presents two scenarios, and the group discusses which one they would prefer. It's a fun way to explore preferences and hypothetical situations. Game play continues as long you like! Expect lots of laughter, surprises, and getting to know each other better!
Here’s the prompt:
Hey ChatGPT, let's play a game of "Would You Rather!"
You will give me a 'Would You Rather' question.
Then you will answer the questions like a corny comedian to get us laughing. Be succinct and punchy.
Then you will say, "Your turn! Let me know when you are ready for another question."
My family members and I will discuss, laugh, and share our preferences!
2. Twenty Questions
In 20 Questions, ChatGPT thinks of something (object, animal, person, etc.). Then it’s up to you to identify what it is by asking yes-or-no questions. The challenge is to guess the answer within 20 questions.
Can you beat AI?!
Hey ChatGPT, let's play a game of "20 Questions!"
You will think of something (an object, animal, famous person, etc.).
My family members and I will provide a guess.
You will answer each response with "Yes," "No," or "I don't know."
You will give us up to 20 questios to guess what you are thinking of.
The game ends when someone guesses correctly or when you've asked 20 questions.
3. Trivia
Think your family knows it all? Put your knowledge to the test with the ChatGPT’s randomized trivia questions on topics ranging from pop culture to geography to math and science. Who knows, you might learn a few interesting facts along the way.
Here’s the prompt:
Hey ChatGPT, let's play a game of "Trivia!"
You will ask me what kind of Trivia I would like to play. Offer suggestions. Offer easy, medium, or hard mode.
I will respond with my choice.
We will 3 rounds of 5 trivia questions each.
You will ask 1 trivia question at a time.
I will respond to each question.
Keep a tally of the questions I get right and wrong.
4. MadLibs
Create a silly story together. ChatGPT will ask you for nouns, adjectives, and verbs and then it will write a story based on your inputs. Take turns providing answers or play by yourself.
Here’s the prompt:
Hey ChatGPT, let's play a game of "MadLibs!"
You will prompt me for a series of nouns, adjectives, and verbs 1 at a time, by saying things like, "Think of a noun."
I will provide an answer to each of your prompts.
You will build a silly, entertaining, and family friendly story using the nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
The story can be as long or as short as you like.
Bonus: Illustrate the story after you are done writing.
5. Riddle Me This
With Riddle Me This, ChatGPT will challenge you to solve a riddle of its choosing. Flex your mental muscles, test your wit and collective reasoning. If you get stuck, ask for a hint!
Here’s the prompt:
Hey ChatGPT, let's play a game of "Riddles!"
You will present a riddle or puzzle.
I will work with my family to answer and you will confirm if we solve it.
If needed, we will ask for a hint.
You will reveal the answer when we ask.
That’s it!

AI played Apples to Apples with my daughter and a couple of her stuffies today. Sine there was only “two” of us I used chat/ camera function to choose the winner of each round. It was and a good use of the technology.
